Bridie Carter is an Australian actress best known for her role as the main character of Tess Silverman McLeod on the television drama series McLeod's Daughters.

Bridie born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and is the oldest of three children, she has two younger brothers. Her mother was a gallery director.[1]
Carter has been acting since the age of six and started her first classes at the Bouverie Street Theatre in Carlton, Melbourne. Carter graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1994. She is best known for her role as Tess Silverman McLeod in hit Nine Network television series McLeod's Daughters,[2] in which she played the lead character. She played the role from 2001–2006, she left through the shows sixth season. She was nominated for many Silver and Gold Logies for her performance as Tess McLeod, including the Industry Voted, Most Outstanding Actress.
Carter's other television credits more recently include Wild Boys for the Seven Network 2011, Rescue Special Ops for the Nine Network 2011. She has a long list of other TV credits including GP, Waterats, All Saints, My Husband My Killer, Murder Call, Above the Law, where she had the main role of Senior Constable Debbie Curtis, Home And Away and more. Her film credits include Princess Pictures' I Love You Too, Fresh Air, Envy, There's A Hippopotamus On My Roof Eating Cake. Love Letters alongside both Aaron Jeffery and Alex Dimitriades, No Names No Packdrill, Ellergies for Angels Punks And Raging Queens are among her list of theatre performances. She and her dance partner, Craig Monley came first place in season 7 of Dancing with the Stars in 2007.
In early May 2004 Bridie married clothing designer, Michael Wilson, they have two sons together, Otis Wilson (born 29 March 2005) and Tobias (born April, 2010). She currently resides on a cattle property behind Byron Bay.
Bridie has a passion for the arts given her upbringing in inner city Melbourne and spending much of her childhood in theatres such as La Mama and The Pram Factory. In her spare time she loves to write, she also lends a helping hand to charity organisations, and is an ambassador for One Water and her drama school NIDA.
